Dust

For the Sawdust Festival poster I decided to use earthy designs and colors. Based on the name and history of the festival, I felt that trees and wood would be great imagery. The background, for example, consists of a path through a forest. I felt that this image displayed the earthy tones of the festival. The hand represents the handmade art, one of the most unique aspects of the festival. Inside the hand are the rings of a tree, these rings the sawdust aspect of the festival. The colors on the poster come from the background image to help get across the earthy tones. The earthy tones mesh together nicely in a linear color gradient, this gives the poster a nice flow. The text is arranged so it flows and the fonts used are easy to read. The hand imagery can easily be used on shirts and other items. Overall this design is meant to showcase the earthy tones of the sawdust festival, while clearly advertising all of the details and interesting points.
